Tate Jones - Violin and Viola Instructor

Tate Jones currently studies Music and Biology with a minor in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with plans to pursue a doctorate in Musicology. He has played both viola and guitar for over 15 years and through the years has picked up violin, bass, ukulele, piano, and drums. His experience in music education includes years of teaching violin, viola, guitar, bass, and piano, in both group and private settings, as well as helping to teach his 6 younger siblings, all of whom play viola.

In addition to formal lessons and solo performances, Tate plays viola in a large variety of ensembles and settings. He is a member of the UNC Symphony Orchestra, the UNC Chamber Players, and the UNC Baroque Ensemble. Beyond classical music, he enjoys playing guitar in a rock band and attending blues guitar jams whenever possible. Tate also writes, records, and produces his own music, and has released one full length album. Music is the most important thing in Tate’s life, and he looks forward to passing on this excitement and love of music!
